MY REVIEW

Allison Sekemoto lives in one of the sectors surrounding the vampire city and she's constantly hiding and hunting for food. From the very start you can see she's one of the kick ass heroines. She survives. She does everything to survive because survival is her only instinct. I liked the beginning of the book where the world building was well explained and described, there was nothing i didn't understand. However i was a little bit irritated with her when she didn't mourn the loss of her friends but somewhere i understand her.

I have a soft spot for Kanin, he was incredibly strong and distant but those few times when he actually did smile it made me like him even more. He was with Allie throughout her transformation and helped her survive. And one of the best things in this book-the vamps don't shine, they cry blood! This book is extremely dark and adventurous with not a moment of boredom. I can't say i like Zeke a lot but his dedication to Allie even after finding out she was a vampire was pretty sweet. 

The book had a lot of twists and turns especially when me met Jackal in the last part. I'm hoping to see more of him in book 2, i love his snarky attitude! However what i didn't like about this book was the length. It was never boring or anything but the amount of time in between the start of the plot to the actual ending was a huge time lapse. Everything came together in the end but i kept having this 'dragging on' feeling. 

Julie Kagawa has again captured me in her unique and magical world building. The iron fey series was full of magic  but The Immortal Rules was dark and mysterious, full of action and kick ass characters. Looking forward for book 2 where we'll hopefully see loads more of Kanin and Jackal!!
