When an enigmatic benefactor hands Maia Graystone a spot in the Trials, she won’t just get a chance at salvation for her and her baby brother, Max: She gets to confront the mother who abandoned her in prison, the mad Emperor who murdered her father, and the Gold prince who once loved her. But it’s the dark bastard prince she’s partnered with that will make her question everything, including her own heart. With the asteroid racing closer every day, Maia must trust someone to survive.

The question is who?

"I was a bead of blood, borne from tragedy, destined to change our dying world."

Hunger Games meets Divergent in the fresh tale mixed with Greek Mythology and Astrology!

With the Asteroid, Pandora, on its path to destroy the Earth, the planet is in a total disarray.

The Golds and the Silvers are safe but the Bronzes are definitely not. Maia Graystone daughter of a Gold and a Bronze had once been a Chosen-somone chosen to live on the Space Station with the Golds and ensure the survival of mankind. She was also matched to the Crown Prince himself. But that was before her father was accused of being a traitor, before her mother abandoned her and before she was left to rot in the Pit. But when the Fiennan rebels offer her the chance to participate in the Shadow Trials-a competition for the children of the fallen Gold families to get a chance to restore their name and earn a place on Hyperion, the Space station-Maia can't refuse especially when she has the chance to find her brother again and keep him safe. There's only one catch-Maia has to kill the emperor. But she soon finds out that nothing in Court is what it seems and her family secrets are not what she expected and she finds herself with more power and responsibility than she could ever have imagined.

In order to to hide her identity and fit in at court, she has to take the identity of Lady Everly March, a ruthless and skilled young woman who was much more brazen, deadly and cold than Maia. Through technology, they managed to give her the exact appearance of Lady March but what they didn't tell her was that Lady Everly March was dead and that along with her appearance, Maia also got some of Lady March's ruthlessness.

Maia/Everly was an amazing MC! Even before she transformed into Everly, Maia was extremely observant and smart. Through her transformation she keeps telling herself that she needs to become Everly because Maia was weak but it took time for her to realise that Maia was a survivor not weak. A lot of this book is focused on Maia/Everly struggling to figure out who she really is and who she wants to be. To win the competition she needs to be Everly but she cannot seem to get rid of her conscience and softness that comes with being Maia. Her character development was amazingly well written!

"'It's just some moments I'm Lady March. I'm strong and confident and really, really sure of myself. And then'-my hands twist at my dress-'I'm my old cowardly self again. Maia Graystone. Afraid of everything'.
'Your mind has to make a choice. Who do you want to be?'"

Riser who Maia likes to call "Pit Boy" since he was in the pit with her was so awesome! The only way to describe him is, Enigmatic. Before he transformed into Lord Thornbrook, he was wild, untamed and almost carnal in his behaviour and even after he still retained that air of danger and just plain rugged bad boy thing! Everly described him as Hades at some point and I totally agree he did have Hades' feels.

The romance was a slow burn. Maia really loathed Riser because he reminded her of the girl she was in the Pits and it took a while before she started to feel more for him and to trust him.

I didn't really mind that a lot of things in this book I saw in Goblet of Fire, Maze Runner, Hunger Games and Divergent because the book is so fast paced and intriguing, you can't seem to put it down.

I really really loved everything in this book! The plot was genius and unique, fast paced and addicting!

"I am caught in an impossible situation between a madwoman, a deranged puppeteer, and a psychopatic freak turned dashing partner."

I can't give it a full 5 stars because I was a little confused with all the new terms like Uploads and Sleepers etc. The world building was a little hard to get into at the beginning but towards the end everything became a little clearer so I was satisfied. That's my only issue with this book!

I'm not usually a sci-fi fan but this was awesome! Highly recommended! Can't wait to read the next one because that cliffhanger was HORRIBLE.

Hello people of the bookish world!!! This has been such a hectic week for me since I moved to London (you can find out more about that here) but thankfully books made it all worth it! As usual click the covers to get redirected to the respective Goodreads page!

My first trip to the bookshop

On Netgalley, I managed to get an ARC of Alexandra Bracken's new MG book!!!! I'm starting tomorrow hopefully!

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding (The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding #1)

"I would say it's a pleasure to meet thee, Prosperity Oceanus Redding, but truly, I only anticipate the delights of destroying thy happiness."
Prosper is the only unexceptional Redding in his old and storied family history — that is, until he discovers the demon living inside him. Turns out Prosper's great-great-great-great-great-something grandfather made — and then broke — a contract with a malefactor, a demon who exchanges fortune for eternal servitude. And, weirdly enough, four-thousand-year-old Alastor isn't exactly the forgiving type.

The fiend has reawakened with one purpose — to destroy the family whose success he ensured and who then betrayed him. With only days to break the curse and banish Alastor back to the demon realm, Prosper is playing unwilling host to the fiend, who delights in tormenting him with nasty insults and constant attempts trick him into a contract. Yeah, Prosper will take his future without a side of eternal servitude, thanks.
Little does Prosper know, the malefactor's control over his body grows stronger with each passing night, and there's a lot Alastor isn't telling his dim-witted (but admittedly strong-willed) human host.

From #1 New York Times best-selling author Alexandra Bracken comes a tale of betrayal and revenge, of old hurts passed down from generation to generation. Can you ever fully right a wrong, ever truly escape your history? Or will Prosper and Alastor be doomed to repeat it?

A collection of Entangled Teen ARC's just streamed into my inbox and I'm so so excited to get to it!

Anomaly (Schrodinger's Consortium, #1)

Reality is only an illusion.
Except for those who can control it…
Worst. Birthday. Ever.
My first boyfriend dumped me—happy birthday, Josie!—my dad is who knows where, I have some weird virus that makes me want to hurl, and now my ex is licking another girl’s tonsils. Oh, and I’m officially the same age as my brother was when he died. Yeah, today is about as fun-filled as the swamps of Dagobah. But then weird things start happening…
Like I make something materialize just by thinking about it.
When hottily-hot badass Reid Wentworth shows up on a motorcycle, everything changes. Like, everything. Who I am. My family. What really happened to my brother. Existence. I am Oculi, and I have the ability to change reality with my thoughts. Now Reid, in all his hotness, is charged with guiding and protecting me as I begin learning how to bend reality. And he’s the only thing standing between me and the secret organization that wants me dead…

Enigma (Schrodinger's Consortium, #2)

The highly anticipated sequel to Anomaly will be released the summer of 2017!
Worst. Road Trip. Ever.
Escaping with Reid Wentworth should have been fun, but how can I enjoy it when I just (accidentally) killed someone, my mom and brother are in danger, and the Consortium is trying to enslave humanity? (Yeah, they aren’t fooling around.) So feeling something for Reid Wentworth was not part of the plan. Trying to help unite the Resistance against the Consortium means I can’t be distracted by hot boys.
The Resistance secret hideout isn’t exactly the rebel base of my dreams. A traitor there wants me dead, but we have no idea who it is. And with both the Resistance and the Consortium trying to control me, the only one I can trust is Reid. If we’re going to have any chance of protecting my family, controlling my unstable powers, and surviving the clash between the Oculi factions, I’m going to have to catch this traitor. By using myself as bait.

Infinity (The Infinity Division, #1)

Nobody said being the daughter of an army general was easy. But when her dad sends a teenage subordinate to babysit her while he’s away… That’s taking it a step too far.
Cade, as beautiful as he is deadly, watches Kori with more than just interest. He looks at her like he knows her very soul. And when he saves her from a seemingly random attack, well, that’s when things get weird.
Turns out, Kori’s dad isn’t just an army general—he’s the head of a secret government project that has invented a way to travel between parallel dimensions. Dimensions where there are infinite Koris, infinite Cades…and apparently, on every other Earth, they’re madly in love.
Falling for a soldier is the last thing on Kori’s mind. Especially when she finds herself in a deadly crossfire, and someone from another Earth is hell-bent on revenge…

Omega (The Infinity Division, #2)

The second book in the Infinity time travel series is full of action, romance, and an intricately designed roller coaster plot.
One mistake can change everything. Ashlyn Calvert finds that out the hard way when a bad decision leads to the death of her best friend, Noah Anderson.
Only Noah isn’t really gone. Thanks to his parents’ company, the Infinity Division, there is a version of him skipping from one dimension to another, set on revenge for the death of his sister, Kori. When a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Ash, he’s determined to resist the magnetic pull he’s felt for her time and time again. Because falling for Ash puts his mission—and their lives—in danger.

And I ordered a few books for myself with my first bank card because it was just begging to be baptised. And what better way than with books?

So I've been hearing so much about Roar and the trailor looks amazing!

Roar (Stormheart, #1)

In a land ruled and shaped by violent magical storms, power lies with those who control them.

Challenge a tempest. Survive it. And you become its master.

Jack the ripper

Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1)

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.
Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. The US edition of Strange the Dreamer cause it's shiny! And the UK hardback version is just plain blue without the dust jacket whereas I think the US edition has an engraving.

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1)

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around—and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever.
What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? What exactly did the Godslayer slay that went by the name of god? And what is the mysterious problem he now seeks help in solving?
The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries—including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo’s dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? And if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?

Welcome to Weep.

Caraval I needed to get because the hardcover IS ONLY £5!!! LESS THAN THE PAPERBACK! it's not the version I wanted but I couldn't pass it up!

Caraval (Caraval, #1)

Whatever you've heard about Caraval, it doesn't compare to the reality. It's more than just a game or a performance. It's the closest you'll ever find to magic in this world . . .

Welcome, welcome to Caraval―Stephanie Garber’s sweeping tale of two sisters who escape their ruthless father when they enter the dangerous intrigue of a legendary game.
Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.
But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.
Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.

Then I got dividing Eden! I saw this book on Goodreads a couple of weeks ago and it really caught my interest. I totally forgot about it but when I was scrolling through books on Book Depo it came up and I just had to get it!

Dividing Eden (Dividing Eden, #1)

From the author of the New York Times bestselling Testing trilogy comes a sweeping new fantasy series, perfect for fans of Victoria Aveyard and Sarah J. Maas.
Twins Carys and Andreus were never destined to rule Eden. With their older brother next in line to inherit the throne, the future of the kingdom was secure.
But appearances—and rivals—can be deceiving. When Eden’s king and crown prince are killed by assassins, Eden desperately needs a monarch, but the line of succession is no longer clear. With a ruling council scheming to gain power, Carys and Andreus are faced with only one option—to take part in a Trial of Succession that will determine which one of them is worthy of ruling the kingdom.
As sister and brother, Carys and Andreus have always kept each other safe—from their secrets, from the court, and from the monsters lurking in the mountains beyond the kingdom’s wall. But the Trial of Succession will test the bonds of trust and family.
With their country and their hearts divided, Carys and Andreus will discover exactly what each will do to win the crown. How long before suspicion takes hold and the thirst for power leads to the ultimate betrayal?

That's it for me! Hope everyone had a lovely week :D

TITLE: Kiss Me Kill You
AUTHOR: Larissa C. Hardesty
SERIES: there might be a sequel!
PUBLISHER: Entangled Teen

SOURCE: ARC from publisher

First kisses should be legendary—not deadly.
Emmy Duivel believes in true love: heart-stopping kisses, candlelight dinners, and a connection that lasts forever. But not the kind of kisses that land your date in the hospital. Emmy always knew she was different, but not in the supernatural sense. Not in the succubus sense.
Paul Andinn had only one job: watch over Emmy and make sure she doesn’t expose the supernatural world. It should have been easy, but the moment he looked away, she kissed that boy, and everything changed.
He should be more upset. But he can’t. Not when he’s falling hard for her.

Emmy has had a crush on her class partner, Paul, forever. But unlike her best friend and mother who live by the no serious relationship rule and mess around with guys, Emmy wants love just like the ones in her novels. But after she gathers up her courage and asks Paul out, she's heartbroken when he rejects her. And suddenly, guys are starting to pay attention to her so when the most popular guy in school asks her out, there's no way she'll say no especially after being rejected by Paul. After making her date unconscious after her first kiss, Emmy is in for a surprise when she learns of her true heritage.

Paul on the other hand, works for the Powers. His mission is to make sure Emmy doesn't expose their existence and as an Incubi, he can't be in relationships either. He wanted more than anything to accept Emmy's offer but with The Powers breathing down his neck and controlling his every move he couldn't put her at risk. Not after he'd paid the price for a similar mistake before.

The plot and idea were really original but personally I think that the supernatural aspect of the book should have been more developed. I needed much more info on the world of the succubi and incubi, we were given some insights here and there but I really wanted more. I have to say thought, the author wrote some amazing love scenes!!!

I really liked Emmy. For a fifteen year old, she was incredibly mature. She talks to herself A LOT. She's the typical awkward, clumsy and shy teenager and comes off as super naive and sweet-we'll get to her character development later. I liked Paul at the beginning but as the story progressed he kind of lost me when he started getting all sappy and lovey dove.

What could have been an amazing romance turned out a little whiny for me. At first it was excellent! You had both these characters that had feelings for each other but Emmy still had that innocent high school crush aspect going on. And as it developed, the romance got super sweet! But then at some point it just got a little too...sweet? And the characters turned sappy and suddenly badass Paul turned into this :  "I love her but maybe she doesn't love me. Do you love me Emmy? I told you I loved you but you didn't say it back. So do ya?"
Image result for do ya do ya gif

And then Emmy who at the beginning was feeling insecure about herself and was always like "Does he like me? Oh he likes me! I want to kiss him. He's gonna kiss me. OMG why would he want to kiss me. Oh he stopped kissing me. I knew it, I knew he didn't want to kiss me. Okay we're making out in the library now while we're supposed to be doing a school project. OMG now he said he only wanted to give me a 'quick kiss' and I imposed a full on make out session. He didn't want this, I'm too much."  But she grew out of it which I am so thankful for!!!! Great character development! But it's like she transferred a little of her sappiness onto Paul :D !

Overall a nice read with a unique concept!

I have officially moved to London!!!

So after a twelve hour night flight I landed in London at 7.30 am. We travelled to Greenwich and my first meal was the MOST DELICIOUS FISH AND CHIPS EVER EVER EVER. And you can trust me when I say it was phenomenal cause I usually just LOATHE fish.

The love of my life is back in Mauritius. He misses me. He may not look like it but he does miss me. No way he forgot me already.

And today I had the most delicious churos * I think that's what they're called* with the thickest and richest hot chocolate sauce I have ever tasted.

You might be wondering why I'm posting about food when this is a book blog-i'm just trying to make a point. After all that delicious out-of-this-world food, nothing, nothing at all made me drool LIKE THE BOOKSHOP. FEAST YOUR EYES PEEPS.

*Note: for some of you these pics will look super familiar cause you're used to big bookshops so it might not be that big of a deal but for me it was a first and a total dream! Mauritius has bookshops but the YA section is basically one bookshelf with maybe five-six shelves and the books displayed are mostly copies of the same book. We have had the same Cassandra Clare books for YEARS, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl and a few random E Lockhart books with the occasional Lauren Kate and Twilight. In the past years they've improved with the Lunar Chronicles and last year they started getting SJM and JLA books but that's it. So walking into that huge bookstore and seeing so many shelves dedicated to YA was just spectacular! I was completely dazed and awed!

Now it's my second day and I managed to go and get 3 amazing books at Waterstones which I've been dying to get my hands on! I had such a hard time narrowing it down to 3, there were just so many I wanted to grab it all! And I had the money for more books but I decided to hide my book buying addiction for a little while, hence only 3 books.

I also had the worst time trying to pick and choose which books to take with me to London. I miss my beautiful bookshelf so much!!! I miss staring at my glorious spines and walking between the shelves and just trading my fingers at the beauty that was once before me...

Anyways I managed to get some of my books and that's Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, which I haven't yet read, my deluxe signed hardback limited edition of Trials of Apollo! the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout because I will never ever get tired of them. Ever. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare., the two Magnus chase books-I haven't yet finished the second one- Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon I can't wait to start because I absolutely fell in love with Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon! The Dark Days Pact, Geek Girl and Potion Diaries I just had to bring so I can get them signed at YALC!

As for my first London book haul, I got an exclusive Waterstones copy of Lord Of Shadows with the pretty blue edges, Rebel Of The Sands By Alwyn Hamilton and A Darker Shade Of Magic by Victoria Shwab. I'm gonna be meeting Victoria and Alwyn at YALC so it was past time to start reading their books! I'm definitely gonna go back there asap to start getting my YALC books! and the best part? Not only is it around 10 minute walk from where I'm staying but it also has a coffee shop! I didn't get a picture because I didn't want to disturb the people sitting and reading. But migosh I have found my new hangout!!! (I bought the Miniaturist at the Airport back in Mauritius.

The one thing that's been bothering me though is that my copy of Lord Of Shadows there's the sticker of Waterstones and I'm absolutely terrified of removing it in case it ruins the cover. but I want to get it off, it's getting on my nerves!

At least it has the pretty blue edges :3

That's it for me guys! Hope everyone had a lovely week!!!!
