MY REVIEW
Okay so i haven't read the first book in the series...and when the author approached me with a review request i was a bit skeptical that i would be able to understand the story and jump into the world building...but i am SO HAPPY to say, i was immediately sucked into the story and was able to understand it without having read book 1! So here's what i understood:
Basically, Grace is a guardian angel and lives in heaven with her boyfriend and fellow guardian angel-Josh. From what i gathered, Josh wasn't always an angel-he was actually a demon that caused Grace's death. Well i guess they fell in love and boom now they're living happily ever after together in heaven. Except it isn't all that cracked up as they thought it would be. Grace misses her family and is torn because she doesn't have the right to meet them; she has to watch her little brother turn to the world of drugs and crime without having the right to help him. Meanwhile, Josh is battling with his insecurities of the past, is he really meant to be an angel? In the background and main plot, the two angels have to find the next Antichrist and save him before Lucifer gets a hold of that person. Because if Lucifer gets hold of the Antichrist, heaven is doomed.
I don't think i need to say anything more about the plot. It was kept simple and yet very intriguing and like i said i was able to jump right into the world of heaven and hell! The concept is pretty cool and i loved that the author did not focus on only one possibility of the Antichrist, we got to see the prospective souls and the struggle the angels faced to help them and figure out who the Antichrist actually was. I can't say i was surprised at whom the Antichrist actually was-i figured it out but it still didn't steal any of the book's awesomeness. Plus, the book was told in Josh's, Grace's, Kiera's and Noah's POV so that definitely keeps things interesting!
Grace is a gentle soul. Yes she can be a hell of a fighter and super protective of her family but for me, she is an angel. She's sweet and gives you this image of her as delicate but not weak. Josh, as i learned, was an ex-player and i guess a little cocky being a demon and all, i loved the fact that he was so in love with Grace and so dedicated to her. However my only issue, is that i think he looked a little weak to me and i get the feeling that he did a total turn from the guy he was in book 1-like his character changed completely not just from bad to good..of course i haven't read the first one so it's just my impression :) Kiera was for me, the most exciting character. She struggles with internal wounds that keep being inflicted on her and despite that fact that sometimes she comes out as evil, you can't help but like and admire her! Noah, the hot bad boy turned evil! He's also suffered most of his life and he is a broken character which made me feel so much more for him!
Awesome cliffhanger ending, i would love to find out what happens next! If you're into angels and demons, this is definitely a series to pick up!
