Goodreads Summary

A thrilling, seductive new series from New York Timesbestselling author Sarah J. Maas, blending Beauty and the Beast with faerie lore.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

MY REVIEW

Feyre is a girl living with two, over bearing sisters and a distant father. She promised her late mother to take care of her family, so she hunts, sells and gets food and money to keep her family from dying out. Until one night, she kills a wolf knowing it was a faerie, her hatred getting the best of her. Everything goes well, she kills it and brings back a fair amount of money after pelting it. Until one night, a roaring wolf, crashes her house and demands her to pay for her deeds. In exchange for her family's safety and well-being, she has to live forever in the land of the fae. But instead of being kept as a slave and asked to pay for murdering one of theirs, Feyre is treated like a princess. Lavish meals and clothes, in the company of the elusive and conflicting Tamlin.

Will Sarah J. Mass ever write something that fails to amaze me? Nah i don't think so!!!!  The idea of the fae wearing masks that never came off was just genius.

Feyre is a survivor. She has a short fuse and hates it when people pity her or use her weaknesses against her. What i liked about her was that, unlike so many of the kickass heroines nowadays, she actually has a weakness. She is illiterate. That made her vulnerable but in a good way, it kind of humanized her and made her easier to like, because she's not invincible.

Tamlin was definitely a mystery. Sometimes angry sometimes totally sweet. It felt like he couldn't care less about Feyre and then suddenly he cared about what she thought. It was an alternating pattern. But he does not really fall into the "swoon-worthy" category for me unlike the guys from ToG series. Now Lucian is another story! He's Tamlin's friend and treats Feyre like a sister. He is hot with the one-eye thing going on and we learn his torturous past and his tragic love story, A heart-broken, cocky character with a sweet side? Lucian is our man-uh faerie i mean.

When i read the first sentence of the book, i was actually sighing and thinking 'yeah this is Sarah's writing'. But as the story progressed, she really blew it out of the water, this was so different from ToG! I had to keep reminding myself that it was the same author! I guess it really shows what an amazing writer she is, to slip into her character and really create someone from her imagination.

I think  the only thing i didn't really like was the idea of the curse that came really really really late, I don't know but i felt like it was discovered a tad late maybe? And i wasn't a huge fan of the romance. LOVED the last part! Action really took over in the last  chapters.

For those who have read the book, did any of you hold your breath and melt a little when Rhys was described!!!!??? BY FAR THE MOST INTRIGUING AND HOT CHARACTER OF THE BOOK. UNDERSTATEMENT ALERT: I WAAANNNNT MOOOOORRRREEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I definitely do not see him with Feyre but maybe he'll get his own book???? Lucian too!!!

I hope in the next book, we explore more of the world of the fae and of the sickness that's taking the lands. I really cannot wait!!!
