TAKING THE REINS (THE ROSEWOODS BOOK 1)                                 BY KATRINA ABBOTT

Goodreads Summary                             3.5 STARS!!!

Brooklyn Prescott (if that's even her real name) is the new girl at The Rosewood Academy for Academic Excellence, now that she's moved back to the States after two years living in London. Rosewood, a boarding school for children of the rich and famous and known for its celebutantes, is missing just one element important to any junior's education: boys. But luckily for Brooklyn, and the rest of the Rosewood girls, there's a boys' boarding school, The Westwood Academy, just a few miles away. On her very first day, Brooklyn meets Will, a gorgeous and flirty boy on campus to help with move in. But is he who she thinks he is? And what about Brady, the cute stable boy? Or Jared, the former child actor with his grown-up good looks who can always make her laugh? As Brooklyn settles in at Rosewood, she's faced with new friends, new challenges and new opportunities to make herself into the girl she always wanted to be. Whoever that might be. Taking The Reins is the first installment of The Rosewoods, an exciting new Young Adult series for readers who love fun, flirty love stories.

This was a cute fun read. The story line was okay and did keep me reading. Brooklyn thinks everyone at her school will be snotty because of their richness but she soon discovers that the girls are all kind. She makes fiends and develops strong friendship bonds with everyone, especially her room mate Emmie.

I absolutely adored Emmie, i thought she was a lovely character with a huge heart and totally not into any kind of vanity. Brooklyn wants to start anew in her school, so she adopts a more outgoing and confident personality. I loved that there was no mean bratty girl in this book-too much of a cliche. She's also hilarious because she sometimes has the tendency to blurt out the first thing that comes to mind-speak first cringe later. There was nothing i hated or especially loved about her so i can say she's an enjoyable character.

I do however not totally get how she could go after three guys...they all had different personalities and were all quite cute but TEAM BRADY!!! Bray is by far my favorite, he's a senior at Westwood but works at Rosewood as a coach, he's got loads of charm and passion. Will is more of a cute flirty guy, i didn't really see anything special about him. Jared however was softer and funnier. So if i had my pick for Brooklyn it would be between Brady and Jared!

There were funny moments and there were sweet  moments. No drama just a cute, perky and quick read if you're into YA romance! My only complain is that it was a little too short..maybe combine book 1 and 2 together? But still a great read!
